CLCD Team attended the Claims Management Conference

On 16 March, the CLCD Team attended the Claims Management Conference held at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool. We ran a prize draw for a £100.00 Marks & Spencer Gift Voucher and Accident Advice Solicitors were the lucky winners.
Interest on Costs

On 20 January 2011, the matter of Crema –v- Cenkos (2011) EWCA Civ 10, came before His Honour Lord Justice Aikens. At the hearing, it was concluded that the Claimant was entitled to interest on his costs under CPR 36.14(3)(c) and that the appropriate rate of interest was 5% above base because that was probably the rate at which C would have borrowed money at the time. C did in fact have the benefit of a CFA and the Court acknowledged that C had probably not had to pay any money at all to finance his claim.
